Our Story
Originally known as Shrine Rack, we created the first wall mounted display rack for your sneakers which we called the Shrine Sneaker Rack. Invited in 2009 to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair for the ICFF studio (hosted by Bernhardt Design), this is where we launched the brand and started our first entry into the sneaker market.
Knowing he had a game changing product in his sketchbook, Fernando A. Robert started a crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter in the fall of 2013 for the Weekender Backpack. Unfortunately, the campaign did not reach its funding goal. However, through contacts made during the campaign, a bag made its way to the hands of some influential supporters that would change the destiny of this brand.
In January 2014, NBA superstar Dwyane Wade posted this image praising our Weekender Backpack on his Instagram account with more than 1 million followers. Within 1 day our Instagram account had grown to 2k followers and by the end of the week we had 5k followers. Through a preorder we were able to fund our first production run and The Shrine as a luggage brand started in the summer of 2015 with its first production delivery.
Through the power of social media, our products were able to find the attention of some big name websites and publications. Various bloggers understood the uniqueness of our products and gave us the airtime to help expose the brand. We thank the many individuals and businesses who have hyped us over the last two years.
After only 2 years in business, we have been hard at work developing a unique collection of styles you can only get from The Shrine brand. In the summer of 2015 we launched the Shrine Sneaker Duffel and the Sneaker Daypack, variations of our Weekender model. In the Holiday of 2016, we announced the first wheeled luggage case designed for the Sneakerhead traveler. Other new styles consist of a leather duffle bag, camera insert, and VAYL Earbud sleeves. Despite all this, we have a lot of new ideas in the works, stay tuned.
